This Russian Van Has A Secret Tetris Game You Can Play On The Dashboard

Remember when a YouTuber tried to fool people into thinking they had converted a Porsche into a game controller that lets you play the classic first person shooting game Doom from the comfort of your cabin? Well, a car game controller has now become a reality – albeit with a much more primitive game and a more mundane vehicle. Hidden inside the trip computer of this GAZelle Next light commercial van is a fully working Tetris game ideal for killing time when stuck in heavy traffic during the laborious morning commute.

As the following video shows, it isn't easy to access the game. Like entering a complicated cheat in a video game, the hidden game is only accessible after a very specific combination of inputs. After translating the Russian description of the video, accessing the hidden Tetris game is achieved by first turning the ignition and starting up the van.

You then have to press the right indicator three times, activate the high beam headlights twice, press the clutch five times, rev the engine to 3,000 rpm, and rotate the left knob on the instrument cluster for a few seconds. And voila, you can now play a game of Tetris using the dashboard display. The right knob on the instrument cluster seems to move the brick sideways, while the left knob moves it down but there doesn't seem to be a way to rotate the brick so it's not a true Tetris game. Regardless, this has to be one of the best car-related easter eggs ever that looks like a fun distraction. But therein lies the problem: it's a distraction and therefore an accident waiting to happen if it's playable while on the move.
