Nissan's lucky dealers across Australia will receive their fair share of the Nissan Patrol Warrior by Premcar when ordering their units later this year - but for now, let's make our initial acquaintance.

In the United States, Nissan is doing great regarding crossover and SUV exposure with nameplates like Kicks, Rogue Sport, Rogue, Murano, Pathfinder, Armada, and the all-electric Aryia. However, diehard 4x4 fans will still frown at the Japanese automaker because it denies them the one model that could hold its full-size off-road own against the legendary Toyota Land Cruiser – the iconic Patrol.

And it really doesn't matter if Nissan's press office brags about stuff like their Yokohama plant's production milestone of 40 million engines they just achieved earlier this year in June – the only thing that would appease them would be an even greater Patrol fighter. Well, coincidence or not, there's a new Nissan Patrol Warrior by Premcar almost ready to hit the trails. Unfortunately for everyone outside Australia, this new version is dedicated solely to the Land Down Under.

Just like Chevrolet has developed its official ZR2 Bison trucks (Colorado, Silverado, Silverado HD) with American Expedition Vehicles to make them tougher than the competition, so does Nissan allow Premcar to fiddle with some of its vehicles and make them true warriors. Yeah, that pun was a long time coming, I know. Anyway, the all-new Nissan Patrol Warrior by Premcar follows in the footsteps and development experience of the Navara Warrior, and the companies are giving us a quick walk around the first-ever SUV modified by Premcar.

Alongside Premcar's Engineering Director Bernie Quinn, Nissan and Premcar want us to discover how the Patrol Warrior was "built to handle Australia's toughest conditions, by Australian engineers, for Australian customers." The philosophy behind the modifications is pretty straightforward: "higher off-road performance without compromising on refinement." Among the enhancements, people will get to enjoy a new rumble thanks to Premcar's internally developed custom active bi-modal exhaust system with valve technology destined solely for the Patrol Warrior.

And you might also want to notice its distinct placement just before the rear wheels – that's a nice nod to the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, don't you think? It rocks dual side-exit exhaust outlets and has "best of both worlds' functionality, meaning engine noise is quiet when you want refinement and exhilarating when you want to hear the full power of that glorious V8." By the way, the mill develops 400 horsepower, so it's the standard tune of the 5.6-liter V8 rather than the meatier 428-hp version used in the Nissan Patrol Nismo.

Other highlights include a new lifted-style height (+50 mm, new re-engineered Hydraulic Body Motion Control), "unique WARRIOR styling throughout," a revised front bumper setup, Warrior fender flares to cope with the 40-mm wider wheel track, uniquely exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in heavy-duty 34.3" Yokohama Geolandar All-Terrain tires, a host of blacked-out exterior details, red bash plate, and a choice of four exterior colors - Brilliant Silver, Moonstone White, Gun Metallic, or Black Obsidian.
