New Range Rover Evoque looks like a baby Velar in new spy shots
When the Range Rover Evoque debuted back in 2011, it was one of the first vehicles to kick off the compact crossover craze.

Since then, nearly every other automaker has entered the segment, leaving the baby Range Rover feeling a little stale. Well, a new model is on the way, and these new spy shots show that it's taken a few cues from the larger, more stylish Range Rover Velar.

We saw our first glimpse of the Range Rover Evoque last May. Those photos showed a prototype with a mishmash of new bodywork. There was a new front end grafted onto the current model's existing bodywork. The fenders and rear bumper had some modifications as well, leading us to believe this new model will be both longer and wider than before.

This new batch of images shows a more cohesive product. While the current Evoque looks like a smaller Range Rover Sport, the new model looks like a small-scale Velar. We don't consider that a bad thing at all. Though it's covered in camouflage, we can see the slim headlights, taillights and grille. It still has some slightly awkward proportions thanks to the short wheelbase, but it's certainly cleaner than the outgoing model.

While we haven't heard anything official, expect to see the new Range Rover Evoque in production guise fairly soon. Land Rover and Range Rover don't do concepts anymore.
