Mercedes Reveals New GLB's Warm, Cozy Interior Amid Cold-Weather Testing
Mercedes-Benz is still preparing the next generation of its baby SUV, the GLB, for its premier on December 8, 2025. According to Mercedes, the next generation of GLB is finishing up its intensive cold-weather testing at the Mercedes Technology Center (MTC) in Sindelfingen, Germany.

At the end of 2024, we saw the Mercedes-Benz GLB filling up with gas during cold weather testing in Sweden, which suggests this might be the all-electric version being pushed hard to make sure the technology will hold up in deep winter conditions.

What we haven't seen before is the interior, and that's what Mercedes is currently teasing us with. Enjoy a good look inside the next GLB.

The "Welcome Home" Feeling
While the GLB is a small SUV, it has three rows of seating, making it a seven-seater here. The GLB has, so far, been a boxy SUV to create as much room as possible inside. That hasn't changed, but we can see from earlier spy shots that Mercedes is rounding off the edges for the next generation, as well as giving it some big, bug-like rear light clusters. Curiously, the model in the testing facility here doesn't appear to have the same rear taillights, which could be one of the ways Mercedes will differentiate the electric and gas versions, as it's no longer going to use the EQB moniker.

Inside, Mercedes is clearly continuing to lean into the dashboard being nothing but screens by showing off the MBUX Superscreen in all its glory. Mercedes also says that, along with the optional MBUX Superscreen, "a more flexible interior" is also optional. There's also Mercedes' take on the Rolls-Royce Starlight headliner, but using the Mercedes diamond star pattern instead. That gives it more of a nightclub vibe, along with the interior lighting cranked up, rather than trying to simulate a starry night.

"Even in the coldest temperatures, the all-new GLB offers a “Welcome Home” feeling," Mercedes tells us.

Cold Weather Wind Tunnels
What we're looking at above is cold-weather testing in climatic wind tunnels, which, apparently, can add snow to the equation. We can see the display on the wall shows the temperature has been turned down to -20 degrees Celsius, which is -4 Fahrenheit. That shows us the Mercedes-Benz GLB is operating here well below the freezing mark.

"Confident traction on snow-covered roads, supreme thermal comfort and clear visibility in snowy conditions are essential for winter driving," Mercedes says in a statement. "To ensure the all‑new GLB meets Mercedes‑Benz’s exacting standards in these crucial areas – and delivers the hallmark quality customers expect – extensive testing in two, state-of-the-art climatic wind tunnels is necessary."

Not Rushing To Market
We've known the new GLB has been coming since the end of 2024. While the "world premiere" of the new Mercedes GLB is on the calendar for December 8, 2025, we don't expect to see it arrive on dealer's lots until Spring of 2026. It's also unclear if Mercedes will drop the gas and electric versions at the same time, let alone in the US. Given the current state of turmoil over tariffs and the drop in electric-vehicle sales, Mercedes is likely still having a long, hard think about the EV version in the US.
