The traditional trek is on – Jeep has seven new concept vehicles to attract the attention of the myriad of customers and enthusiasts who take part in the 59th edition of the annual Easter Jeep Safari. Curiously, the fresh Wagoneer S and the upcoming Recon are absent – could that signal a potential backtracking of the EV strategy in the near future? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Obviously, with the Jeep sales dropping 10% during the first three months of the year, the Stellantis brand needs all the attention it can get. The classic Easter Jeep Safari is always a great venue to do that, of course. As such, there are customer 'activations,' off-road trail rides like the Baby Lion's Back with the Wrangler Rubicon and Gladiator Rubicon, on-road city tests with the Wrangler Rubicon X, Gladiator Rubicon, Grand Wagoneer, Wagoneer, Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve and "a special surprise buzz model," plus the first-ever consumer nighttime trail ride on Wednesday, April 16 with Jeep Jamboree, hosted by special guest Casey Currie.
"Easter Jeep Safari was created by Jeep owners for Jeep owners, and this incredible event has helped steer the Jeep brand's development of off-road 4x4 vehicles over the years while, most importantly, connecting us with the community and the thousands of Jeep enthusiasts who gather each year," said Bob Broderdorf, CEO, Jeep brand. "Moab is our home away from home and a playground that can only be properly explored in a Jeep. The custom Jeep and JPP concepts we'll unveil this year, along with unique immersive experiences, will once again demonstrate the Jeep brand's unmatched off-road capability and underscore what it means to drive a Jeep."
However, the seven Jeep and JPP concepts will always be the star attraction. So, let's get to know each of them a little bit better. The Jeep Convoy is a "classic workhorse," a military-inspired Jeep Gladiator Mojave transformed into a truck inspired by the original 1963 Gladiator SJ with notable exterior and interior mods.
Those include the special matte Ghost Ops exterior hue, "J-truck"-style hood, and front fascia equipped with 12k-lb. Warn Zeon winch, custom SJ-tribute seven-slot grille with embedded amber LED lighting, Chocolate brown canvas half doors and top/bed canopy, high-clearance flares, 17-inch Warn wheels with 40-inch BFG Krawler tires, plus the special Mil Spec O.D. Green bed-lined floors and components as well as low-back seats in distressed brown leather.
Secondly, the Jeep Bug Out 4xe concept is an extended four-door Jeep Wrangler 4xe Rubicon that was stripped down, lightened, dressed in carbon fiber, and attempted to "unite ultralight camping with overlanding for off-grid adventures." The changes include a special PEA51 matte silver exterior shade with yellow touches and graphics, a four-inch raised roof, steel front bumper with LED auxiliary lights and custom hood, Mopar front half doors, and rear custom body side, which integrate auxiliary battery packs.
There's also a 12-inch extension of the body, a Gladiator-style drop tailgate and high departure rear tube bumper with a Jeep electric off-road E-scooter in the bed, high clearance flares, 18-inch lightweight Forgeline wheels with 37-inch BFG KM3 tires and inside the fans will find custom front seats with topographic inserts, bed-lined floors with mole panels and cargo net, a flat rear floor, and interior attachment points aimed at fitting a sleeping hammock.
Moving on, the Jeep Rewind concept is nostalgia impersonated – a 1980s and 1990s-style Jeep Wrangler that pays tribute to the age of loud neon colors. It started as a two-door 2025 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with the 2.0-liter turbo mill and was riddled with 'cool kitsch.' The features include the special high-travel Grimace purple exterior paint color with bespoke graphics, a gloss black custom anti-roll bar, a custom mesh sun bonnet instead of a roof, custom-painted 17-inch AEV wheels with gold wheel pockets, and 37-inch BFG KM3 M/T tires.
Inside, the concept has a molded plastic floor liner and no rear bench seat, a bespoke rear compartment (probably hiding a boom box), custom retro print inserts on the seats, and a vintage cellular car phone and other retro touches. The fourth representative of the pack is the Jeep Gladiator High Top Honcho concept, aimed at giving the off-road mid-size truck a mid-1970s makeover.
It's a JPP and Mopar effort, this time around, with unique heritage graphics, custom-painted steel wheels shod in 40-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 white letter tires, flat steel fender flares, Dana 60 front and rear axles with matching 5.38:1 gearing, AccuAir adjustable air suspension, and Warn winch. But wait, as there is more - American Expedition Vehicles front bumper, Rock Slide Engineering rock rail power steps, Decked truck bed storage system, a matching hardtop, quilted and perforated tan-and-black Alea leather seats, and even a bright pedal kit.
Next up is the Jeep J6 Honcho, which mixes and matches the classic late-1970s Jeep Honcho theme with fresh Jeep Performance Parts and accessories from Mopar. The J6 Honcho was initially a four-door Jeep Gladiator Rubicon, but it's now a two-door truck with a 6-foot functional bed "box" that's 12 inches longer than a standard Gladiator bed. It's also lifted and customized, and the length is 201 inches, while the wheelbase is 118.4 inches, the same as a current four-door Jeep Wrangler.
Sixth on our list comes the Jeep Wrangler 4xe Blueprint, which is a veritable rolling catalog drenched in almost 40 "factory-tested and factory-backed items" Mopar and Jeep Performance Parts. It's veritable advertising on wheels, too, as more than 35 accessories are finished in contrasting Mopar Blue. They also have QR codes that send the fans directly to the Mopar eStore consumer website.
Last but not least, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe Rubicon Sunchaser is supposedly the "ultimate outdoor adventurer" because it has all the gear used during a full day of activities. It's also the most conceptual vehicle of all, as several exterior components aren't off the shelf or available soon – like the Mopar ILLUMINAT3 off-road pivoting lightbar accessory, the vented high-top steel fender flares, or the side storage boxes with integrated Molle panels.
